Doily time

Today I decided to go with a doily theme. I just love adding them to a project for a nice vintage feel.

I started by cutting the sewing pattern paper into mini doilies. I believe these are made by Die-Namics. I love the intricate detail in them.

Next I took a stamp by Unity and used Victorian velvet distress paint instead of ink. This will give it a more aged and distressed look.

I stamped it once and then did it again without adding any more paint. This gives a softer look, which I am after.

Then I did the same thing again on the other end of the card stock. I will save the other background for another project sometime.

I took a piece of vintage lace trim and added it to the center to hide the join.

Next I cut out my main embellishment. This time I chose a young girl, she is so sweet.

I rummaged through a jar of pink buttons to find three different ones. Then I used some green embroidery floss to thread in the centers. I rarely use a button without something in the center, it looks "naked". Stuck them on some glue dots so they are ready to go.

It is hard to see, but I added glue dots to the centers where my doilies will go. As I said yesterday, sewing pattern paper is thin and fragile, so I put the adhesive on the other side.

Put the doilies on the glue dots.

Adhere the girl down with pop dots.

Attach button centers.

It is finished! I love the simplicity of this one. I hope you like it and visit again.
