I thought I might do another "theme" week. I had a lot of fun using vintage sewing patterns for an extended period. Often once I get a product out I want to use it in various ways. Awhile back I had bought some old movie reels at another one of our local antique stores. I played around some, but did not really use them much as the ideas were not flowing yet. Well today I got them back out and I am ready to go!
I hope you like this one, I had so much fun creating it!
I began with one of impression obsession's cover a card stamps, grunge. They measure 5.75"x5.75", making them great for backgrounds.
I hate to waste anything, especially ink! So what I did was take some hearts, that I had already cut out of old books, and put them on the stamp to soak up the leftover ink.
I finally got some embossing paste! I have been wanting to try this since I got Tim's stencils.
It is so easy to use. Take a palette knife, hold stencil firmly or tape it down, then spread the paste where you want it. It does not take much product at all, a little does go a long way. Make sure to wash the knife and stencil with cold water as soon as you are finished.
I love the look! It is hard to see, but it gives great dimension. The only bad thing is waiting for it to dry, it does take awhile. I looked it up and the recommended drying time is 20-40 minutes. I am not sure yet if it can be heat set to speed it up. I will be researching some more.
I found these cute little arrows in my stash, but they were very red. I got out some silver paint to fix them. Let them dry or zap them briefly with a heat gun.
Now the cool embellishment part. I cut a piece about 10" from the movie reel.
Fold it in half and staple together.
Then pinch it into shape in the center and staple.
How cool is that? I love it!
The arrows are dry and ready to use.
They just need some ink to tone down the brightness of the silver. I took a silver krylon marker around the edges of one of the paper hearts.
I took an old playing card, folded the corner over, and rubbed some black distress ink over it. Now start adding the embellishments to the card.
Cut out a small ticket using the mover and shaper die by Tim Holtz.
Stamp a sentiment, I used one from Stampers Anonymous odds and ends set by Tim Holtz.
To finish off the heart embellishment I used the silver krylon marker for the top edges.
It is hard to see, but I added some brushed pewter distress stickles around the card.
I added black card stock for the card base.
Now to add the heart I had to use some mini glue dots.
Here it is from another angle. What do you think of the film heart?
Well I am very excited for the rest of this week, I hope you will continue to keep stopping by this week for more of my creative adventures.
Really like this one....can't wat to see what else you'll have for us!
